Welcome to Rustic Ridge Labradors
We are preservation breeders, committed to the soundness, temperament, and uncompromising quality of the Labrador Retriever.
We are located in Indiana, north of Indianapolis. We live on 10 1/2 acres dedicated to the fun and happiness of our labs. We've built our foundation on strong ethical values, integrity, as well as superior pedigrees, producing top-quality Chocolate Labrador Retrievers with outstanding type, temperament. The health of our Labrador Retrievers is also a top priority. Every breeding is planned, researched, and maintains the breed standard. We breed to continue our multi generation pedigree’s, not simply to produce and sell puppies.
All of our Labrador Retrievers are cleared of any hereditary joint disease, eye disease, and hereditary heart disease. Every dog in our breeding program is cleared by a Board Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist yearly. These tests are certified through the Orthopedic Foundation of American (OFA). We also perform 26 different DNA tests through Neogen Genetics and DDC Veterinary to help insure we are producing the healthiest Labrador Retrievers possible.
After many years of only breeding outstanding Chocolate Labradors we were very fortunate to get a wonderful yellow Labrador Retriever female from Penara Labradors. We occasional have a litter of Yellow / Fox Red Labrador Retrievers. This is a joint venture with our good friend and long time breeder Sue Halling of Gregoire's Labrador Retrievers.

Sue brings over 40 years of experience and knowledge of breeding Labrador Retrievers to our program.
The first recorded yellow Labrador, Ben of Hyde in 1899, was a dark, rich color described as "butterscotch" or "tinged with red," which is the same shade as a modern fox red.
We consistently produce beautiful yellow/fox red Labrador Retrievers
with exceptional confirmation, bone, correct coat, fully health tested, and well tempered, while preserving the original stunning dark, rich, yellow color.
Our puppies are raised in our home and are showered with love and affection. Puppies are well socialized, up to date on all vaccinations, and fully dewormed before they go home. We practice ENS-Early Neurological Stimulation which starts 3 days after they are born. Our puppies experience different surfaces. They are introduced to water (weather permitting) and hundreds of different sounds to help prepare our puppies for all of their new adventures. They receive their first vaccine, 5 dewormings, are vet checked at approximately 7 weeks old, and go on their first car ride.
Our puppies are microchipped prior to going to their new families. Rustic Ridge Labradors registers every microchip to the new owner as well as registers each puppy with American Kennel Club.
All registration fees are included.
Our puppies are introduced to other animals, especially our cat Bruno who thinks he’s part Labrador Retriever and loves the puppies. No puppy is placed before 8 weeks.
